Track Places Seventh at First Sun Belt Outdoor Meet

MIRAMAR, Fla. — The Georgia State track and field team scored 57 points to finish in seventh place at their first Sun Belt Outdoor championship meet at the Ansin Sports Complex.

The 4x100m relay team of Tatiana and Talia Colbert, Gabby Brooks and Wande Brewer led the way by capturing a conference championship in the event by running 45.52. That time is the third-fastest mark registered by a Panther 4x100m squad in program history.

The same four Panthers finished in second place in the 4x400m relay event to tally 18 total points to the team score. Both times were season-bests for the GSU relay squad.

Brewer also raced to a third-place finish in the 100m dash and came in seventh in the 200m to contribute eight points to the team total, running personal bests in both events. Tatiana Colbert added four points with a fifth-place finish in the 200m.

Niamh Kearney scored 10 points individually after placing third in the 1,500m and fifth in the 800m. Kearney entered the meet with the conference's second-fastest 1,500m time and fourth-best in the 800m.

Anna Sinclair contributed seven points with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase and a fifth-place effort in the 5,000m. The Panthers earned eight points in the steeplechase as Denise Myers (7th) and Alison Bishop also scored in the event.

In the 10,000m, Hannah Stefanoff placed eighth to score the first point for GSU on the first day of competition. Her time of 37:48.13 is the fifth-fastest 10K time in program history.

Aniya Moore set the second-highest point total ever for a Panther in the outdoor heptathlon. The sophomore scored 4,387 points over the five events to place eighth overall.

Georgia State also finished seventh in the Sun Belt Indoor track and field championship by scoring 31 points in Jonesboro, Ark. on Feb. 24-25. This is the first season that the Panthers have competed in the conference after previously being a member of the CAA.
