Kirsten Gallagher joined the Panther family in 2013 after a five-year playing career at UAB. Gallagher played five years on the indoor volleyball team and two years for the sand volleyball team.
Since joining the Panthers, Gallagher has helped GSU to five straight winning seasons, accumulating a record of 103-44. She has coached State to two top-ten AVCA finishes, and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. Kirsten has coached AVCA All-Americans (Sara Olivova, Jansen Button), CSSA pair of the year (Delaney Rohan, Chelsea Ross), and CCSA All-Freshman (Brooke Weiner).
Gallagher plays an instrumental role in offensive system and block training, while overseeing recruiting and operations. In 2017, she was named to the AVCA’s 30 Under 30 Award list.
She competed in the first collegiate sand volleyball match against Florida State. Gallagher also competed in the 2012 AVCA National Championship with her partner Heather Thomas.
During her five years at UAB, Gallagher played in 273 sets for the Blazers after redshirting in 2008. On Sept. 26, 2011, she was named Conference-USA’s defensive player of the week. She had a career high 16 kills, on a .609 hitting percentage, in a 3-2 win over Houston on Sept. 21, 2012. Gallagher was also selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2008, 2010, and 2011.
Gallagher hails from Auburn, Ala., and attended Auburn high school. While there, she was a four-year letterwinner, named to the 2007 Alabama All-State Second team and 2006 Alabama All-State First team and was the 2006 Opelika-Auburn News Volleyball Player of the Year.
Gallagher received her B.S. in business administration (management) from UAB and her MBA and MHA while at Georgia State.
