ATLANTA – Georgia State’s first football game against in-state foe Georgia Southern will highlight the Panthers’ 2014 slate of home opponents. While the Sun Belt Conference has finalized home and road opponents for conference members, it will not announce the dates for each contest until March 1, 2014.
In its second season in the Sun Belt, Georgia State currently has four scheduled conference games at home in the Georgia Dome and four on the road. The Panthers will play host to Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, New Mexico State and Texas State while traveling to Appalachian State, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama and Troy. Georgia State will not face Louisiana-Monroe or Idaho in 2014.
The non-conference home schedule features games against Air Force and a newly added game against Abilene Christian, which is moving up to the FCS level from Division II. To make room for the ACU game, Georgia State executed its option to cancel a game at Chattanooga in 2014.
Georgia State will also travel to Clemson and Washington in 2014. The game in Seattle will be the first of two games in consecutive years against Pac-12 schools, as GSU is slated to face Oregon in Eugene, Ore., during the 2015 campaign.
Other future non-conference games already on the schedule include Air Force (at home in 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2016), Charlotte (at home in 2015, at Charlotte in 2017) and at Wisconsin in 2016.
