The Inside Pitch with Cole Uvila

Position: Right-handed Pitcher
Class: Junior
Hometown: Port Angeles, Wash.
Next Home Game: April 1 vs. Georgia Tech

ATLANTA- Newcomer Cole Uvila (pronounced YOU-vill-a) transferred to Georgia State after playing for two seasons at Pierce College in Washington. The right-handed pitcher has earned a spot in the Panthers' weekend rotation as the Sunday starter. He also has one relief appearance in which he earned a save to clinch Georgia State's sweep of a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader at Arkansas State.

Why did you come to Georgia State?
COLE UVILA: I knew that I wanted to come to the South for the better weather, and I also don't have much family in Washington because my parents moved. I wanted a change and it felt like a good fit here.

How is Atlanta different from Washington?
CV: Atlanta is not much different from Seattle but my hometown is smaller so it's new for me to be in a big city all time like I am now. But other than that there's not really that big of a difference.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
CV: Just being able to play at the highest level in college baseball has really meant a lot to me.

What are you most looking forward to this season?
CV: Seeing the team come together and making a run at the postseason, which I definitely think is a real possibility. So I'm excited to see if we do make it that far.

What is one thing that you couldn't live without?
CV: My friends from back home.

What is your favorite football team?
CV: The Seattle Seahawks.

What is the worst movie you've ever seen?
CV: Recently I saw Gone Girl and I didn't think it was good at all. I know a lot of people liked it but I thought it was pretty bad.

What is the best pickup line to use on a girl?
CV: In the past some of the guys and I have told girls that I play for the Braves. It's pretty funny, especially because sometimes it does work.

What is the last thing you bought?
CV: Coach [Adam] Scott had me buy a book called “Heads Up-Baseball: Playing the Game One Pitch at a Time” and it came in the mail the other day. It's about the mental side of baseball, so Coach wanted me to read it.

What is the lamest joke you've ever heard?
CV: This is actually one of my favorite. It goes, “What is green and has wheels? Grass, I lied about the wheels.”
