ATLANTA - Despite shooting 50% from the field, Georgia State was unable to overcome 21 turnovers and lost 70-64 Saturday to Louisiana. The Panthers were led by K.K. Williams who scored a career-high 14 points.

Georgia State was down 15 to the Ragin’ Cajuns in the third quarter, but the Panthers mounted a furious comeback and pulled within three in the fourth quarter. GSU outscored LA 23-16 in the final period, but the Ragin’ Cajuns made their free throws in the final minutes to seal the deal.

“We waited a little too late to turn up the intensity and play harder. We missed some free throws down the stretch and we weren’t able to run some of the plays we wanted to,” head coach Sharon Baldwin said. “We did a lot of good things today, we just turned the ball over too much.”

Tiffany Holston recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. It was her third double-double in four games. Jada Lewis also finished in double figures with 13 points. Makeba Ponder tallied seven rebounds and Williams and Kennesha Nichols each gathered four assists.

The Panthers outrebounded the Ragin’ Cajuns 39-27, but LA committed just 10 turnovers while the Panthers turned the ball over 21 times.

Georgia State (8-14, 4-7 SBC) had won three straight entering Saturday’s game. The Panthers look to bounce back against Coastal Carolina Thursday night in Conway, S.C.
