What you need to know:

* Georgia State lost a pair of games Friday at the Under Armour Invitational hosted by USF.

* The Panthers lost to Syracuse 5-2 and South Florida 1-0.

* The Panthers play two more games on Saturday in Clearwater, Fla. against Villanova and Hartford.

TAMPA - Georgia State’s softball team lost two games by a combined four runs Friday at the USF Under Armour Invitational in Tampa. GSU lost to Syracuse 5-2 before falling to host USF 1-0 on a walkoff single.

In the first game of the day, the Panthers took on Syracuse, sending Annie Davis to the circle to face the Orange. Davis started off strong and held Syracuse to three runs through six innings before being chased in the seventh. Davis’ final line was four earned runs on nine hits through 6.2 innings.

Georgia State’s offense was held to four hits with Remington Hasty and Taylor Bradley picking up one RBI each.

Georgia State took on host South Florida in Game 2 and was locked in a pitchers’ duel as Mandy Chance had a shutout through 6.2 innings before allowing a walkoff single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Chance gave up just five hits on the day.

The Panther offense outhit the Bulls before the walkoff, but stranded seven runners on base. Megan Litumbe finished the game 2-for-3 from the plate with a double.

Georgia State falls to 10-8 on the season. The Panthers play Villanova and Hartford Saturday in Clearwater.
