* Georgia State defeated Georgia Southern 5-3 in Game 1 of the series.

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia State (31-21, 16-9 SBC) took the first game of the series with a 5-3 victory at rival Georgia Southern Friday night in Statesboro. Megan Litumbe provided run support with her fourth home run in four games and Kinsley Jennings was stellar in the circle.

Jennings earned her team-best 16th win of the season with an impressive performance in the circle Friday. Jennings went six innings and held Georgia Southern to just two runs on four hits while striking out six.

Georgia State jumped in front early with two runs in the top of the first. Kensey Caldwell brought in the first run of the game with a bases loaded sac fly and GSU made it 2-0 on an error later in the inning.

Litumbe continued her hot streak with a two-run blast to left field in the third. It was her 18th homer of the year and fourth in the last four games. Entering the series, Litumbe ranked 10th in NCAA Division-I in home runs.

Georgia State added another run in the third when Kirsten McMonigle doubled to right-center, scoring Reagan Morgan all the way from first to put GSU up 5-0.

Jennings had a shutout going through five full before Georgia Southern got on the board with a pair of solo home runs in the sixth.

Peyton Worsham came in to pitch the seventh and earned her first career save, getting a double play to end the game after the Eagles scored one run.

The Panthers and Eagles conclude the regular season and the series with a doubleheader Saturday. Game 1 is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
