TROY, Ala. - Third-seeded Georgia State (34-21) defeated No. 7 seed ULM 5-2 Wednesday evening at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Panthers advance to the quarterfinals and will face No. 2 seed Texas State Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year Kinsley Jennings got the start in the circle and earned the win, going 5.0 innings while allowing just one earned run on five hits. Jennings improves to 18-10 on the season.

Morgan Brown's sixth career triple led off a five-hit, five-run inning for the Panthers in the first. Megan Litumbe and Remington Hasty each hit RBI doubles in the frame. Both Kirsten McMonigle and Mandy Blackwell recorded RBI singles.

ULM picked up runs in the third and fifth innings to pull within three. Mandy Chance came on to pitch in the sixth with a runner on and no outs and worked around the baserunner to keep it a 5-2 game.

Chance shut the door in the seventh, snagging a line drive out of the air and throwing behind the runner at first for a game-ending double play.
