ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s tennis head coach Jonathan Wolff announced Tuesday morning the signing of the No. 1 junior player in Latvia, Roberts Grinvalds.

Grinvalds is 26-12 this year in singles, 52-35 in career singles, and 24-12 in doubles play this year. The high school senior earned his first professional ATP point this year in Latvia Futures. He is currently ranked 180 in the ITF world rankings and has been ranked as high as No. 172.

The Bigaunciems, Latvia, native earned his biggest win this season when he won his first grade 3 tournament. He will join the Panthers for the 2018-2019 season.

“We are thrilled for Roberts to join the program,” Wolff said. “He has shown he can win on the highest of stages in the international junior tour while also achieving success in the classroom. He embodies the student-athlete that Georgia State prides itself in recruiting. He certainly has a bright future ahead of him and we can’t wait to get started with his collegiate career at Georgia State.”

Georgia State will open spring dual play at the FSU Spring Invitational on Jan. 13.
