ATLANTA - Georgia State's women's basketball team lost 75-58 Saturday to Arkansas State in the GSU Sports Arena.
Kierra Henry's 16 points led Georgia State and Shay Fluker joined Henry in double-digits with 10 points. Madison Newby totaled nine points and added six rebounds and five assists. For Henry, she has now scored double-digits in 13 out of 15 games this season.
The Panthers came out hot in the second half, pulling to within seven points of the Red Wolves midway through the third quarter, but GSU couldn't complete the rally. Arkansas State, however, forced GSU into 19 turnovers and capitalized with 29 points off those turnovers. The Red Wolves also shot 49% from the field for the game while holding the Panthers to 35% shooting.
Georgia State outrebounded AState 41-34, but the Panthers mustered only 10 second-chance points off 16 offensive rebounds.
Georgia State falls to 4-11 on the season and 0-4 in the Sun Belt. The Panthers travel to Boone, N.C. next weekend to take on Appalachian State Thursday and Coastal Carolina Saturday.
