ATLANTA- Georgia State women’s tennis dropped their home opener to Winthrop 4-3 on Saturday morning. GSU won three of the five singles matches that were played, but suffered a walkover loss on court three.

The Panthers fell behind early by dropping the doubles point. Due to lineup restrictions GSU was forced to forfeit the doubles point on court three. Wintrhop clinched the doubles portion when Kristin Rehse and Daniela Ramirez fell to a pair of Eagles. Lara Vovk and Elizabet Danailova were leading their doubles match 4-2 when play was stopped.

Georgia State battled back in singles action with a trio of victories. Muminović, Vovk, and Ramirez all won in three sets, but it was not enough to overcome a pair of singles losses on courts one and two.

The loss drops GSU to 6-7 on the season. The Panthers will be back in action next week for four matches in Texas, beginning with a neutral site match Saturday morning against Kansas State in Dallas.
