ATLANTA – Georgia State’s softball team capped off a perfect weekend at home with a 6-3 victory over DePaul Sunday. The Panthers finished this weekend’s I-75 Challenge with a 5-0 record.

Kinsley Jennings got the start in the circle for GSU and held the Blue Demons to three runs while striking out four batters. Jennings’ performance earned her win No. 5 on the year.

Ivie Drake continued her hot streak with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, highlighted by a bases-loaded triple that helped GSU go in front for good. Drake finishes the weekend with a .563 average, three doubles, a triple and 10 RBI.

Brenna Skalski had a 2-for-4 day, knocking in a pair of runs on a double to the wall in right in the bottom of the second. Caitlin Ray had doubled home a run earlier in the inning as the Panthers would take a 3-0 lead.

DePaul got on the board in the top of the fourth with a run, but Drake’s three-run triple extended GSU’s lead to 6-1.

The Blue Demons got two runs back on solo home runs in the sixth, but Jennings settled in and got a swinging strikeout to end the game in the seventh.

The Panthers move to 12-8 on the season with their fifth straight win and are now 6-0 at home. It’s the best start to the home schedule for GSU since the Panthers started the 2015 season 10-0.

Georgia State is at home again on Wednesday against Presbyterian.
