ATLANTA- No. 11 Georgia State beach volleyball swept a pair of home matches on a rainy Tuesday at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex. The Panthers defeated both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State 5-0, doing so without losing a set. The wins improved GSU to 7-3 on the season.

In the match against Austin Peay, GSU got out to an early lead before Brooke Weiner and Annika Van Gunst clinched the match with a 21-11, 21-12 win. The duo would clinch the dual against Jacksonville State as well with a 21-12, 21-11 win.

Fourteen Panthers, including all five of the team’s freshmen and three new graduate students recorded wins on the day. Graduates Tiffany Creamer, Annika Van Gunst, and Teegan Van Gunst and freshman Meagan McCall all earned two wins in their first home action at Georgia State.

“Today we were pleased that we were able to get all of our new athletes into the lineup and have them experience a home dual”, said coach Beth Van Fleet. “It was a good opportunity for us to try some new pairings, and we are happy with how we played and supported each other as a team.”

Up next for GSU Beach is a trip to Boca Raton for three duals on Saturday. The Panthers will take on Houston Baptist and Florida Gulf Coast, as well as conference rival Florida Atlantic.
