ORLANDO, Fla.- The Georgia State men’s tennis team fell 4-3 against Penn State in the first of two spring break matches Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 8-8 while the Nittany Lions improved to 8-5.

GSU dropped the doubles point, falling in the bottom two courts. Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Duarte earned a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position before Penn State tied doubles play as Quentin Coulaud and Andrei Andrukhou fell 6-4. The Nittany Lions clinched the point at the No. 3 position, with Gabriel Nemeth and Matt Galush defeating Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane 7-5.

The Panthers tied the match 1-1 as Andrukhou defeated Christian Lakoseljac 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 1 position before Penn State pulled ahead again as Acuna fell 6-4, 6-1. The Nittany Lions came within one of the clinch at the No. 5 position, with Galush defeating Kevin Huynh 7-6(6), 6-2.

GSU put the score at 3-2 when Bailey Showers earned a 6-2, 7-6(2) victory, and Coulaud tied the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win in the tiebreaker set. Penn State earned the clinch at the No. 4 position as Hussey fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Georgia State will return to the court on Monday afternoon, concluding spring break play at FAU.
