MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- The Georgia State men’s tennis team fell 4-1 in the final regular season match of the season at No. 43 Middle Tennessee Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 12-10 and the Blue Raiders improved to 21-4.

GSU stumbled in doubles play, dropping the doubles point at the bottom two positions. Bailey Showers and Andrei Andrukhou fell 6-4 at the No. 3 position, while Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane were defeated 6-2 as Middle Tennessee clinched the doubles point.

The Blue Raiders went up 2-0 at the No. 6 position, with MacFarlane falling 6-2, 6-0. GSU cut the lead to 2-1 at the No. 3 position, as Hussey earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the Panthers’ only singles win of the match. Quentin Coulaud fell 6-2, 6-3 as Middle Tennessee went within one before clinching the match when Showers was defeated 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the tiebreaker set.

Georgia State will return to the court for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament next weekend in Peachtree City, Ga. Play will begin April 20, with the bracket to be released later in the week.
