ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s tennis team ended the 2018 season ranked No. 63 overall and No. 8 in the Southeast Region, as announced by the ITA.

This marks the first time this season that the Panthers have been ranked by the ITA since February, where the team reached a season-high ranking of No. 45. Georgia State finished higher in the overall rankings than regular season opponents Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Cal Poly, with all three team defeating GSU.

The No. 7 Regional Ranking is the third top-10 finish in a row for the Panthers, with the team ending the 2017 season with a No. 7 Southeast Region ranking. GSU finished one spot ahead of cross-town foe Georgia Tech.

“The Southeast Region is considered to be one of the toughest in the country, so a top-10 ranking is a testament to our players and coaching staff,” head coach Jonathan Wolff said. “We have consistently placed in the top-10 over the past three years, and we are motivated to continue putting in the work and dedication as a team to build on the successes of the previous seasons.

Georgia State finished 2018 with a 14-11 record and as the runner-up in Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The team will return six players and will welcome three freshmen to the squad for the 2018 fall season.
