ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s soccer freshman midfielder Logan Luque was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshmen list, the organization announced over the weekend.

Luque, a freshman from Bonaire, Ga., comes in at No. 67 on the list. He collected Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors in his first season with the Panthers after playing in 19 matches with 12 starts to accumulate over 900 minutes on the pitch.

Luque finished the 2018 season with one goal for two total points, scoring his first career goal against Gardner Webb on Oct. 16. He had eight total shots with three shots on target for a .375 shot on goal percentage while also aiding a GSU defense that conceded only 25 goals in 20 matches and pitched five shutouts.

The Veterans High School standout joined GSU after lettering three years for the Warhawks, where he was a three-time All-Region selection and named to the 2017 Varsity Georgia All-Star team.

Georgia State captured its first Sun Belt regular season and tournament championship in program history this year, defeating rival Georgia Southern in the SBC Tournament Finals. The Panthers made their second NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Brett Surrency and capped the season with an 11-6-3 record.
