ATLANTA- After a 13 day layoff the Georgia State women’s tennis team (3-7) is finally back in action this week to begin conference play. The Panthers will head to Bayou State to take on Louisiana (5-6) Saturday and ULM (5-1) Sunday afternoon.

“We are starting conference play without our whole line up, but we’ve faced adversity before and we have three veterans that absolutely love the challenge that comes with that,” head coach Alex Leatu said. “Heading into conference play I am really happy with the direction this team is going.”

Saturday will mark the first meeting between Georgia State and Louisiana since the Panthers defeated the Ragin’ Cajuns 4-0 in the first round of the 2014 Sun Belt Tournament. GSU defeated UL Monroe twice last year, beating the Warhawks 4-1 in the regular season and 4-3 in the Sun Belt Tournament Semifinals. Daniela Ramirez and Damira Muminović both were 2-0 in singles play against ULM last season.

Ramirez has led the way for GSU through ten matches. The senior is 7-3 on the year, and a perfect 3-0 in the number two singles flight. Freshman Eva Chivu has spent time in the ITA top-125 this season and has provided the Panthers with four wins in the number one flight.

Saturday- GSU at Louisiana 11:00 a.m.

Sunday- GSU at ULM 1:00 p.m.
