ATLANTA -- Georgia State suffered a tough loss in its series opener vs. Coastal Carolina, falling 27-2 Friday evening at the GSU Baseball Complex.

The Chanticleers (25-17-1, 10-8 Sun Belt) scored five runs in the first inning on just one hit, taking advantage of five walks and an error.

Georgia State (12-31, 3-16 Sun Belt) answered in the second inning on a two-run home run by Daino Deas, his second of the season, to pull within 5-2. But Coastal pulled away with six runs in the fourth, and then added five in the sixh and nine in the seventh.

Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 2 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex.
