A Georgia State alum, Nick Mackay was announced as the new men's golf assistant coach in August 2019. Mackay, who earned his Master’s from Georgia State, previously served as an assistant coach at Kennesaw State.

From 2013-15 Mackay served as the women's assistant coach at Kennesaw State under head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. During his time at KSU, the Owls won an Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, produced two Atlantic Sun Conference Freshmen of the Year, one conference player of the year, and multiple all-conference selections. 

Since 2015 Mackay has worked as a player agent for Blue Giraffe Sports, helping to manage the careers of PGA and LPGA Tour professionals including Lexi Thompson, Jhonattan Vegas, Stuart Appleby, and Juli Inkster. He has also spent the last 12 months running a junior academy in Johns Creek, Ga. 

During his collegiate playing career at Jacksonville State, Mackay helped the Gamecocks capture back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference titles in 2002 and 2003 and earned all-conference honors in 2003. As a senior, he led Jacksonville State to the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championship and was named the conference’s 2004 Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year. A five-time individual champion, Mackay captured individual medalist honors at the Auburn, Little Rock and Jacksonville State tournaments in addition to tying for individual medalist honors at the 2004 OVC Championships.

After his collegiate playing days, Mackay competed on the NGA Hooters, E Golf, Nationwide (Korn Ferry), South American and Australasian professional tours from 2005-2013. He also caddied extensively on the Korn Ferry Tour from 2010-13. 

A native of Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia, Mackay earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in print journalism/English from Jacksonville State in 2005, before earning his Masters in Sports Management from Georgia State in 2015. 

Mackay lives in Atlanta with his wife, Maria, and their two children, James (3) and Madeleine (1).
