Harris Wins Bruce LaBudde Award

Sophomore forward Chandra Harris received the Bruce LaBudde Sportsmanship Award at the 53rd annual Georgia State Athletics Awards and Recognition Banquet on Monday, April 27.

Harris was the team's leader in field goal percentage and was second in rebounding, while averaging in double figures over the second half of the season when she became a starter. Following basketball season in mid-March, Harris was approached by the track coach about joining that team as a high jumper. Harris embraced the opportunity to help the track team and earned All-CAA honors in track and field by placing second in the high jump at the CAA Championship Meet in Baltimore. Her track points helped that team post its highest-ever point total at the CAA Meet and finish third overall.

Chandra is a kinesiology and health major and participates often with her team in community outreach events.

The native of Macon, Ga., is the daughter of Charles and Linda Harris. Chandra was the Bibb County Player of the Year and MVP of the state North-South All-Star game while playing at Northeast High. She had been third in the state high jump meet while competing for her high school track team.
