Georgia State men's golf coach Joe Inman posted a 70 (E) at the U.S. Senior Open sectional at Florence Country Club in Florence, S.C. Tuesday, leaving him just short of the Open.
Inman intended to participate in his eighth career U.S. Senior Open, after making the cut in six of seven previous attempts. However, Inman's 70 leaves him four shots away from earning alternate status and five shots away from qualifying.
Inman finished alone in 11th place at the par 70, 6,404 yard Florence Country Club. Bret Atkinson of Charleston, S.C. posted the low round of the sectional with a 64. Javier Sanchez of Tupelo, Miss. filled the second spot with a 65.
Steven Liebler of Irmo, S.C. and Michael Donald of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. finished as first and second alternate, shooting 65 and 66 respectively.
Inman fired a front nine 32 and a back nine 38 en route to his 11th place finish at even-par.
