ATLANTA--Georgia State students, alumni and fans are invited to the third annual GSU Block Party on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 4-7 p.m. in Hurt Park and on Gilmer Street.

This is the annual fan day with the chance for students and supporters to meet and greet the student-athletes, get autographs and pose for pictures. The GSU football, volleyball, soccer and cross country teams will all be on hand, along with the cheerleaders. And, it's all free.

The carnival atmosphere will also include inflatable games for all ages. GameTruck will be on hand with video game trailers, a DJ will provide entertainment, and the GSU Bookstore will have a mobile merchandise display so students and fans can pick up some new gear.

It's outside, but there are plenty of shade trees in the area, misting tents, and cool, refreshing beverages.

There will be a variety of free food including funnel cakes, cotton candy, and hot dogs, as well as fare from Willy's and Jimmy John's.

Target has organized a special GSU Night that evening (Sunday, Aug. 19) at 10:30 p.m., when the store at Atlantic Station will be open to only GSU students. Time to shop and get organized for the year ahead. Buses will be available to transport students to and from Target and will begin departing at 9:15 p.m. from the University Lofts and University Commons.

The Block Party is brought to the student body by various university departments: Admissions, Athletics, Office of New Student Orientation & Parent Relations, Spotlight Programs Board, Student Advisement Center, Student Alumni Association, and Undergraduate Studies.
