Robert Ferguson makes his move to the middle of the defense from his former outside position in the Panthers’ new defensive scheme.

The 6-1, 230-pounder will be back for his third season since joining the inaugural season and has never missed a game. Ferguson leveled seven ball carriers for losses last season to rank third on the team. He intercepted a pass in the season-opening win and returned in 31 yards. Ferguson has 82 tackles in his first two campaigns in the white and blue of GSU.

The Belle Glade, Fla. native starred with Glades Central High, the Class 3-A state champion, followed by 11-1 and 11-2 seasons as he led the defense for a 36-4 three-year mark. He was coached by a former NFL player, WR Jessie Hester, who was an 11-year NFL veteran. His hometown is on the south end of Lake Okeechobee in the middle of Florida between Fort Myers and West Palm Beach.
