ATLANTA - Georgia State will be well represented at this week's GSGA State Amateur Championship which tees off Thursday at Ansley Golf Club - Settindown Creek in Roswell. Three former Panthers and two current ones will take part in the 144-player field to decide the state of Georgia's best amateur golfer.

Rising sophomore Grant Cagle along with recent transfer Kevin Lee will be representing the team along with graduates Tommy Caswell, Clemens Dvorak and Alan Fowler.

Settindown Creek will host the premier amateur championship in the state for the second time, as the Roswell club played host in 2007 as well.

Cagle, who helped lead the Panthers to a second place finish at the CAA Championship this past April, will begin his quest for the title on Thursday off the 10th tee at 8:45 a.m. Lee, who transferred from Oklahoma this summer and will be a junior in the fall, goes off the first hole at 12:45 p.m.

Dvorak, who was a member of the same team as Cagle and earned four top 15 finishes this past season, will be among the last to see off on Thursday, going off the 10th tee at 2:20.

Caswell and Fowler, who both graduated in 2011, will be going off the first hole at 7:50 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. respectively on Thursday.

Georgia State alum Jack Croyle won the event in 2000 following his sophomore season in which he led the Panthers to their first ever NCAA National Championship appearance.

Settindown Creek is a nationally ranked 18-hole championship golf course rated 13th "Best in State" for 2005-06 by Golf Digest and ranked 84th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" in 1997 by Golfweek. The Settindown Creek course was named the fourth toughest course in the area by the USGA, as published in the Sept. 17, 2010 issue of the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Settindown Creek has been host of the Nike Tour Championship, U.S. Open Sectional Qualifiers, and the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship conducted by the United States Golf Association.

Settindown has also been the scene of the Georgia State Match Play Championship, U. S. Senior Open Qualifier, and the Georgia State Open.
