ATLANTA--The Georgia State football team held its second preseason practice Thursday morning at the GSU Practice Complex with another workout in shorts and helmets.

Per NCAA guidelines, the Panthers will don shoulder pads for the first time for practices three and four on Friday and Saturday, both at 8:30 a.m. The first workout in full pads is slated for Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

GSU enters the 2012 season with a first-year defensive coordinator in Anthony Midget, a member of head coach Bill Curry's staff since 2008 who was elevated from secondary coach to coordinator in March.

Midget, a former all-American defensive back at Virginia Tech and an Atlanta Falcons draft pick, is installing a modified 4-2-5 defensive scheme for the Panthers.
