TOWSON, Md. – Georgia State freshman middle blocker Eliza
Zachary earned a spot on the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie team
after a stellar freshman season.
“Eliza worked hard this season and deserves this honor,”
said head coach Tami Audia. “She is a natural athlete and came to practice
every day with a mission to get better. As she figured out the game speed, she
just kept getting better and became more of a force.”
Zachary, a native of Bloomington, Minn., was named to the
All-Rookie team after leading GSU and placing third in the CAA in blocking with
91 total rejections. She posted a team and conference-best 23 solo blocks and
was a part of 68 block assists.
She was fourth among the Panthers in scoring with 141 total
kills and led all rookies by appearing in 81 sets. Zachary posted a single-game
high of 15 kills and nine total blocks (two solo and seven block assists) in
the Panthers’ 3-2 win over UNCW on October 13.
She was joined on the All-Rookie team by Dessi Koleva of William & Mary, Meghan Niski of James Madison,
