ATLANTA--Georgia State men's soccer freshman William Mellors-Blair was named to the Men's Freshmen Top 100 list by TopDrawerSoccer.com following a remarkable rookie campaign.

TopDrawerSoccer.com releases its list of the Top 100 freshmen players in the country at the midway point and following the regular-season. Mellors-Blair was ranked No. 49 on the postseason list and was one of just five Colonial Athletic Association freshmen to be honored.

"I am always happy to see our guys honored and Will certainly deserves the recognition," third-year head coach Brett Surrency said, "He has an incredible work rate and I only see him improving throughout his time at GSU."

Mellors-Blair starred in his first season as a Panther earning Third Team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie Team honors. He led GSU with six assists on the season and owned a 0.33 assist per game mark, both ranked him 83rd and 88th in NCAA men's soccer respectively. He began the season strong by notching four assists in his first three matches and led the nation in assists per game in the Sept. 13 statistical rankings.

Mellors-Blair, a native of Nottingham, England, added three goals on the year and was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after his first week of matches. He added a game-winning goal, part of a two-goal game in a 3-0 win vs. Georgia Southern, and led the team with 20 shots on goal. He was second on the team to senior Alex Vivanco with 12 points.
