CAA Release CAA Release
ATLANTA — Taylor Anderson has been named the CAA co-Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. She shares the award with Julia Czarnecki, an outfielder from George Mason.

The shortstop helped the Panthers to a 6-1 record, including a 4-1 mark during the USF Under Armour Invitational Tournament. Anderson hit .417 on the weekend with 10 hits, including two doubles and two triples. The McDonough, Ga. native also had five RBI and five walks.

Anderson had a 16-game hitting streak come to an end on the weekend. That streak now stands as the second longest in program history, only three games shy of the school record 19 set by Mary Kathryn Branan during the 2007 season.

The conference weekly award is the first earned by Anderson and the third for the Panthers this season. Paige Nowacki was named the CAA Player of the Week on Feb. 19 and Kaitlyn Medlam earned the Pitcher of the Week honor on Feb. 26.

Georgia State picked up three CAA Rookie of the Week awards last season, with two going to Lauren Coleman and one to Callie Alford.

The Panthers play three games at home this week, with one game vs. Jacksonville State on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. before hosting a doubleheader against Eastern Illinois this Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m.
