ATLANTA — Jessica Clifton and Katie Worley have earned CAA conference weekly honors after helping the Georgia State softball team to four wins over the last week, the conference office announced Monday.

Clifton was named the CAA Player of the Week by going 8-for-15 at the plate with nine RBI and five runs scored. The junior from Locust Grove, Ga. hit for the cycle in two games of a doubleheader against Delaware and provided a walk-off RBI single to win the series opener in eight innings.

Worley was awarded with the CAA Rookie of the Week honors after recording three wins in the circle to go with a 1.83 ERA. The freshman from Milton, Fla. allowed only four runs over 15.1 innings pitched and struck out 13 batters in that stretch.

The Panthers have now earned six CAA weekly awards during the 2013 season, including three Player of the Week honors and two for the conference Rookie of the Week.

Clifton earned two CAA Rookie of the Week honors in 2011 and was named the CAA Player of the Week during the month of April last season. The weekly award is the first conference honor for Worley.

Georgia State closes out the 2013 season by traveling to James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. on May 3-4. The Panthers are currently on a 10-game winning streak, including seven-consecutive wins in the CAA.
