GSU heads to Nashville for NCAA Regional; draws Illinois
ATLANTA—The Georgia State men’s tennis team travels to Nashville, Tenn., to regional host Vanderbilt to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship on May 10.
Georgia State (15-10) jumped back into the team rankings following an upset victory over No. 49-ranked MTSU in the Sun Belt Conference Championship final. The 4-3 comeback win secured a berth for Georgia State in the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament as an automatic qualifier.
Georgia State senior Victor Valente will learn his fate in the 2013 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship tomorrow when the NCAA releases both brackets. For conferences with more than one singles player within the ITA Top 125 eligible singles players, the subcommittee applies the NCAA selection criteria to determine which student-athlete is the automatic qualifier from those conferences. Valente is ranked No. 64 in the ITA National Singles rankings
