ATLANTA — Six Georgia State softball student-athletes were named to the 2013 All-CAA teams, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Jessica Clifton was the lone Panther to be named to the All-CAA first team. The center fielder led GSU with a .331 batting average and was named the CAA Player of the Week on April 29.

Three Panthers earned spots on the All-CAA second team — catcher Callie Alford, first baseman Lauren Coleman and pitcher Kaitlyn Medlam.

The selection is the third-consecutive for Medlam and the second straight for Alford. Coleman was named to the conference first-team last season. Medlam was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 26.

Taylor Anderson and Katie Worley both made the CAA All-Rookie team, consisting of the top-10 freshman from the conference teams. Both student-athletes earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors once during the season.

Both Clifton and Medlam were named to the All-Rookie team in 2011, while Alford and Coleman made the All-Rookie team in 2012. Medlam was also the 2011 CAA Rookie of the Year.

Georgia State finished its season with a 36-19 record, its third straight season under Coach Roger Kincaid to have 35 or more victories.

The CAA tournament will be held on May 8-10 in Hempstead, NY. The No. 1 seed Hofstra hosts the conference tournament for the seventh consecutive time.

Georgia State would have qualified for the tournament as the No. 3 seed, but the Panthers were deemed ineligible from CAA postseason play after announcing a transition to the Sun Belt Conference in 2014.
