Ragland has been with the Georgia State since 1987, making her the longest tenured employee in the department with 29 years at GSU and 28 in Athletics. She currently serves as assistant athletic director for human resources, a position she has held since 2011.
Ragland originally joined the department as administrative assistant to the director of athletics and has been promoted to business manager (1988) and then assistant AD for business and finance (2006) before human resources became a fulltime function. At various points in her career, Ragland has had oversight of athletic department budgeting, ticket management, team travel, housing, and scholarships in additions to her role in human resources. She worked in the office of student accounts when beginning at GSU.
A current member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the GSU Human Resources Advisory Committee, Ragland has received an HR Generalist certificate from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Prior to joining the Georgia State staff, she worked in accounting first in Germany for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and then at South Carolina State University (1981-87).
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she is married to James Ragland and together they have: one son, Jerry; two daughters, Ashley and Jasmine; and two grandsons, Luke and Maximus.
