ATLANTA –Nick Pumford has been named Georgia
State assistant men’s golf coach as announced Monday by men’s golf head coach
Joe Inman.
“Nick is
motivated, polished and goal-oriented,” said Inman. “He has a wonderful work
ethic with a great mindset and value system. Nick will be a great asset to our
team and a great addition to the GSU family of coaches.”
Pumford joins the
Georgia State Athletic Staff as a former four-year letterwinner in men’s golf
for the University of Michigan. He also served as captain his senior year
during the 2008-2009 season. In his junior season, Pumford led the Wolverines
to a second place finish as he won the individual medalist honors at the Wolf
Run Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Indiana.
During his
collegiate career, Pumford gained additional experience working as a golf course
assistant at the Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. He was also
able to get a taste of life as a coach working as a camp supervisor and mentor to
junior golfers at the University of Michigan golf camp.
Pumford is eager
to put his golf experience to work and help aid Coach Inman in guiding the
Georgia State men’s golf team through a successful season.
“First of all, I
have to thank Coach Inman for giving me this opportunity” stated Pumford. “I am
really excited to start coaching and excited to meet our student-athletes. I am
ready to start up practices and begin play in tournaments. This is going to be
a great season and hope I can make it a successful one.”
