ATLANTA--Georgia State's 2011 football season opener against Clark Atlanta will be played Friday night, Sept. 2 at the Georgia Dome.
The game between the two downtown Atlanta schools is part of a football-filled weekend at the Georgia Dome. The Atlanta Falcons are scheduled to host their final exhibition game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 1, and the day following the GSU-Clark Atlanta game, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game pits Georgia against Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Georgia State also announced the addition of the University of St. Francis to the schedule on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Georgia Dome. St. Francis, an NAIA program in Joliet, Ill., replaces Lambuth, an NAIA program which discontinued operations this spring.
The Saints of St. Francis posted a 7-4 record in 2010 and finished the season just outside the Top 25 of the NAIA Football Coaches Postseason Poll at No. 28.

Coach Bill Curry and the Panthers will follow up the inaugural season 6-5 record with six home games at the Georgia Dome in their encore season. This 2011 opener will come one year to the day from last year's Sept. 2 inaugural game, when GSU drew 30,237 to see the Panthers defeat Shorter, 41-7.
