ATLANTA – The Georgia State Athletic Association has announced the 2011 representatives for its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The SAAC is a body of student-athletes who work closely with the athletic department to provide perspective on rules, regulations and policies. The purpose of each NCAA SAAC is to be a forum for ideas, concerns, questions and recommendations.
Committee members also coordinate service and outreach programs to encourage student-athlete involvement in the campus and the community.
Kelsey Spinks, a redshirt junior cross country runner from Stockbridge, Ga., will serve as the SAAC president, after being the vice president in 2010. Last November, Spinks represented the Panthers at the Colonial Athletic Association SAAC leadership summit in Wilmington, N.C.
Linebacker Mark Hogan has been selected to act as the committee’s vice president. The redshirt sophomore from Matthews, N.C. became the Panthers’ first-ever scholarship football player when he arrived at GSU in January 2009.
This year’s SAAC secretary will be junior pitcher McCall Langford. The LaGrange, Ga., native led the 2011 CAA champion softball team with a 15-10 record and made the All-CAA first team.
