ATLANTA--Several thousand Georgia State students and fans turned out for the second annual GSU Block Party presented by Georgia's Own Credit Union to meet the Panther football team, along with the volleyball, cross country and men's soccer teams.

The GSU student-athletes signed autographs and posed for photos, and students and fans also enjoyed games, food and giveaways.

Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick addressed the crowd, along with members of the football team's Leadership Council, thanking the GSU students for their support and encouraging them to turn out en masse for the "Battle of the Panthers" when Georgia State opens the season by hosting Clark Atlanta on Friday, Sept. 2 at the Georgia Dome.

The GSU football team resumes practice Tuesday morning.
