Fresno, Calif.--Sophomore Abigail Tere-Apisah earned her third win this season against a ranked singles opponent, but it wasn't enough as the No. 50-ranked Georgia State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match at Fresno State on Friday.

Tere-Apisah, the No. 54-ranked player in the ITA Women's Division I Singles rankings, won 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles vs. Fresno State sophomore Marianne Jodoin. Tere-Apisah previously defeated the No. 93-ranked singles player in Wake Forest's Kayla Duncan and the No. 45-ranked player in Georgia Tech's Jillian O'Neill.

Down 3-1 in the team score, Tere-Apisah's straight-set victory over the No. 42-ranked Jodoin gave GSU (6-3) a glimmer of hope in the match. Senior Tereza Lerova followed with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, win at No. 2 singles over Olga Kirpicheva to knot the team score at three. But Fresno State's Melissa McQueen came back to earn a 0-6, 7-6, 6-2, win at No. 4 singles against Georgia State sophomore Maryna Kozachenko to clinch the match.

Freshman Masa Grgan took home Georgia State's first win of the day, a 6-3, 6-3, triumph at No. 5 singles against Bulldogs junior Briana Modoc.

Fifth-year head coach Miha Lisac and the Panthers return home for a match on Tuesday, Mar. 6 against Samford (2 p.m.). Visit the women's tennis page early next week for a preview of the match.
