C. J. Stephens is making his move to challenge for a starting spot on the defensive line for the Panthers.

The 6-4, 255-pounder played in all 11 games last season as a redshirt freshman, notching 12 tackles, a QB sack and two tackles for losses. At GSU, Stephens earned the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as a freshman with a GPA of 3.2 or better.

The Woodland, Ala. native was a defensive terror in high school, making his moves for 146 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and six QB sacks his final two seasons for the Bobcats of Woodland High. His hometown is just across the Georgia state line south of I-20.
