Georgia State has partnered with the Picture of Health Foundation to fight childhood obesity by working with the 2nd annual Run/Walk on Sept. 8 at 8 a.m. in Tucker.

All of the participants who compete in the 5K race will receive a ticket to the Georgia State-Richmond football game on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 3:30 at the Georgia Dome.  This will be Coach Bill Curry's Panthers' inaugural game in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) against a team that won the 2008 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championship.

Also partnering in this Run/Walk event is the DeKalb County Board of Health and the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. A Health Fair will follow immediately at Tucker Middle School.

The 8 a.m. race begins at 2138 Idlewood Road in Tucker, just off Lawrenceville Highway (Route 29) near the Tucker Plaza Shopping Center. It is north of the Stone Mountain Highway.

Registration, which can be done online by clicking here, for the Run/Walk event is $40.

The Picture of Health Foundation (POH) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the community with health education and to empower people to change unhealthy lifestyles thereby increasing life expectancy.
