ATLANTA--Georgia State's annual Georgia's Own Credit Union $10,000 Cash Drop promotion has earned recognition from several national media outlets, including Sports Illustrated, USA Today and The Sporting News.
This year's Cash Drop will take place at halftime of Saturday's football game at the Georgia Dome as the Panthers host New Hampshire at 3:30 p.m.
A total of $10,000 in vouchers will be dropped from the rafters onto the field, and up to 400 Georgia State students will be on the field to collect as many envelopes as they can grab.
The lucky students will then redeem their vouchers, which will be of various denominations, for cash at one of two local Georgia's Own Credit Union branches, beginnning Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.: 34 Peachtree Street, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30303; and 133 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Sports Illustrated college football writer Andy Staples tabbed GSU as the "Promotion of the Week" in his column on si.com.
GSU students earned the chance to participate in the Georgia's Own Credit Union $10,000 Cash Drop by attending the Sept. 22 game versus Richmond and taking part in the companion ticket program.
The Georgia's Own Credit Union Cash Drop made a highly-successful debut last season at the GSU vs. Campbell game. For this year's event, Georgia's Own Credit Union has doubled the amount of cash available to GSU students.
