ATLANTA--Gerald Howse, a running back from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, has joined the Georgia State football program as a junior college transfer.
Howse is enrolled for the spring semester and will participate in spring practice. He has two seasons of eligibility.
Standing 6-2 and 220 pounds, Howse rushed for 652 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2012, although he was slowed by an ankle injury for part of the season. The first-team all-conference selection in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference helped Northeastern Oklahoma A&M to a 9-3 record and a No. 13 national ranking.
Howse's top game came in an upset of No. 9-ranked Blinn, when he rushed for 153 yards and four touchdowns and was named state Player of the Week by the Daily Oklahoman. He added 120 yards and two scores in a win over Ellsworth CC.
A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Howse attended Siegel High School, where he rushed for 1,072 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior.
