Feb. 2, 1987 – The Georgia State women
pulled off an exciting 83-82 win on the road at Florida A&M in Tallahassee,
Fla. The work of one Panther provided almost half the offense as 6-foot-3
sophomore Angela Gresham poured in 40 points for GSU, while also grabbing 16
rebounds. Gresham was only the second
Panther to score 40 or more points in a game in school history. Seeing Gresham
succeed was a tribute to her hard work after missing the previous season with a
knee injury. She had been an All-America pick as a freshman after averaging 21
points and 15 rebounds a game. And,
actually at this time the team was called the Lady Crimson Panthers.
