Cocoa Beach, Fla. - The Georgia State sand volleyball team won its second consecutive match at the Ron Jon Surf Shop Beach-n-Boards Fest with a 3-2 win over Jacksonville Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers went 2-1 over the weekend, following Sunday morning's 3-2 win over North Florida.
The Panthers will try to keep their win streak alive when they play host to Mercer in their inaugural home match on Tuesday, at 5 p.m., at the GSU Sand Volleyball Complex.
GSU 3, JACKSONVILLE 2
The Panther's No. 1 pair, Lane Carico and Katie Madewell, went a perfect 3-0 over the weekend. They continued their winning ways with a two-set victory over the Dolphin's No. 1 pair with a routine 21-13, 21-5 win.
Georgia State's No. 2 duo of Jansen Button and Sara Olivova lost in two sets, falling 14-21, 15-21. Button and Olivova were 1-2 over the three weekend matches.
The Panther's No. 3 pair of Katelyn Rawls and Milani Pickering also won in two sets, defeating Jacksonville's team 21-12, 21-15. Rawls and Pickering went 2-1 over the weekend.
The Panther's No. 4 team of Alexis Elmurr and Karlee Kavanaugh lost in two close sets to JU, both by the score of 18-21.
Georgia State's No. 5 duo of Nikki Senopoulos and Kaitlynn Hufstetler picked up their first win of the weekend with a 21-13, 21-5 win over the Dolphins.

The Georgia State sand volleyball team recorded its first win in program history Sunday morning, defeating the defending Atlantic-Sun champions, North Florida, in the Ron Jon Surf Shop Beach N' Board Fest.This was just the second match in school history that began Saturday.
The Panthers rallied after losing the first two duals to overcome the Ospreys and post a 3-2 victory.
The top three pairs for the Panthers came away victorious. The No. 1 pair of Lane Carico and Katie Madewell picked up their second win of the weekend. After winning Saturday morning against Stetson, the duo defeated North Florida's top pair in two, 21-15 in both sets.
For the GSU No. 2 and No. 3 pairs, each picked up their first career wins. The No. 2 duo for the Panthers, freshmen Jansen Button and Sara Olivova, rallied after losing the first set 18-21. The pair outlasted their Osprey opponents, winning the next two sets 21-18 and 15-9, to grab the victory.
The No. 3 pair, Katelyn Rawls and Milani Pickering, also lost in their first set, 24-26, but overcame the deficit and rallied to win the following sets 21-18 and 15-10
Freshmen Alexis Elmurr and Karlee Kavanaugh, the No. 4 pair, fell to the Ospereys 9-21, 12-21.
The freshman duo of Nikki Senopoulos and Kaitlynn Hufstetler, the No. 5 pair for the Panthers, lost 12-21, 5-21 in their match.
In a sixth exhibition match, Alexis Townsend and Molly Smestad won in two sets to pick up their first unofficial win.
The Ospreys, in their second season of play, are the defending Atlantic Sun Champions and went 9-2 in their inaugural season.
