ATLANTA—Junior Abigail Tere-Apisah and sophomore Masa Grgan are No. 36 in the ITA National Doubles rankings and Tere-Apisah finished the season ranked No. 41 in the ITA National Singles rankings which were released on Tuesday.
The No. 41 ranking provides Tere-Apisah a great chance for an at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Singles Championship held from May 22-27 in Urbana, Ill. It would be her second-consecutive trip to the tournament after advancing to the Round of 16 last year and earning All-American status in the process.
The No. 36 ranking for Tere-Apisah and Grgan provides the duo a chance to crack the 32-team field at the 2013 NCAA Doubles Championship. Automatic qualification into the Division I doubles championships is awarded to any conference with one or more eligible doubles teams ranked in the ITA Top 60 for eligible/entered doubles teams. For conferences with more than one doubles team within the ITA Top 60 eligible/entered doubles teams, the subcommittee applies the NCAA selection criteria to determine which doubles team is the automatic qualifier from those conferences.
