With the 2013 National Football League Draft beginning Thursday and continuing through the weekend, seniors from Georgia State's 2012 football team hope for their NFL opportunity, either through the draft or the free agent route.

Last spring, even though the Panthers had been playing for only two seasons, the GSU program had its first NFL draft pick when defensive lineman Christo Bilukidi was selected in the sixth round by the Oakland Raiders. Bilukidi went on to sign a four-year contract and make the team and play for the Raiders in 2012.

Shortly after the 2012 NFL Draft, linebacker Jake Muasau also earned an NFL opportunity when he signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants. He did not make the roster last year, but was re-signed this winter to return to the Giants and try again to earn a position on the 2013 team.
