ATLANTA — As women’s tennis enters its second season in the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia State will kick-start the fall season with the Atlanta Classic at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center in Piedmont Park, Sept. 27. The three-day tournament will end on Sept. 29, with Georgia Tech, LSU and Columbia competing.

Georgia State had great success last season as it entered its first year as part of the league. The team overcame its most difficult schedule in program history and advanced to the final of the Sun Belt Conference Championship. Senior Abigail Tere-Apisah and junior Masa Grgan will return after the duo competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship. Tere-Apisah also competed in the NCAA Singles Championship a year after earning All-America honors.

Following the home opener in Piedmont Park, chosen singles and doubles players will make their way to the All-American Championship in Palisades, Calif., at the Riviera Tennis Club. The ITA certified event will run from Oct. 4-6.

The team will return home Oct. 11 and host Louisiana-Monroe, Chattanooga and Emory at Piedmont Park. The event will conclude on Sunday.

The Panthers will be back on the road from Oct.18-21 at the ITA Regional Championship hosted by UGA in Athens. Georgia State will then travel to Tuscaloosa for the Roberta Allison Fall Classic at Alabama, Nov. 1-3.

The Panthers will finish out their fall regular season with the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y. This ITA certified event will be held Nov. 8-10 with the best 32 singles players and 20 doubles teams to attend.

Admission for all fans to Georgia State women's tennis home matches and tournaments at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center is free of charge.
