Panthers Get Through Rainy Day at ITA Regionals

ATHENS, Ga. - Rainy weather may have moved play inside for most of the day, but the Georgia State women's tennis team still found success on the court. Freshmen duo Marcia Tere-Apisah and Tarani Kamoe advanced to the semifinals in the doubles main draw, while Abigail Tere-Apisah moved on in the singles main draw.

Marcia Tere-Apisah and Kamoe, coming off their win over the No. 2 doubles team in the country, defeated Central Florida's Caroline Eberhart and Josephine Haraldson 8-3 in the round of 16. The freshman pair then defeated Florida's Stefani Stojic and Olivia Janowicz 8-7 (8-6) to advance to the semifinals. 

Abigail Tere-Apisah and Masa Grgan, the No. 37 team in the country, were upset in the round of 16 by Georgia's Mia King and Lilly Kimbell 8-7 (8-6). 

In the singles main draw, Abigail defeated Florida's Olivia Janowicz 6-4, 6-1. Kamoe, in the quarterfinals of the singles B draw, lost to Florida State's Majlena Pedersen 6-0, 6-1.

Play will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
