ATLANTA-For the fourth time in six years under head coach Ron Hunter, Georgia State will make a postseason appearance as the Panthers will travel to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET at the Dugan Wellness Center in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

It will mark the second appearance for the Panthers in the CIT. Georgia State accepted a bid to the event in Hunter’s first season, 2011-12, after a 21-win regular season. The Panthers opened with a win over Tennessee Tech that year before falling at Mercer in the Round of 16.

The game will be streamed on Facebook Live. The CIT and Facebook Live have partnered together to bring each of the 2017 contests to the social media platform.

Georgia State will enter the event 20-12 after falling to Troy in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Saturday. The Islanders are 20-11 after falling in overtime to New Orleans on Saturday in the Southland Conference Championship.

“Our team is excited to continue to play,” Hunter said. “Postseason basketball is special. We came up shy of our ultimate goal, but now we will look to win this championship and cut down the nets in a few weeks.”

Georgia State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi have met once before at the Dr Pepper Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 2010, where the Panthers claimed a 72-42 win.

This will mark Georgia State’s seventh all-time appearance in postseason play. The Panthers have appeared in three NCAA tournaments, earning a pair of wins, along with two NIT appearances.

The CIT utilizes the old NIT format in which there is no set bracket. Future opponents and sites are determined following each round. All games in the CIT are played on campus sites with the tournament running thru March 31.   The semifinals and finals of the CIT will be carried live on CBS Sports Network.
