TROY, Ala. - Georgia State lost 9-7 Sunday in nine innings as Troy hit a two-run walkoff home run to win the series finale and take the series from the Panthers. GSU falls to 17-11 (4-2 Sun Belt) on the year.
Georgia State fell behind 4-0 in the first inning as the Trojans hit two home runs to open the scoring. Georgia State cut the deficit in half with a pair of runs in the top of the second off a Morgan Brown two-RBI single.
After Troy added a run in the second, Ivie Drake led off the top of the third with a solo blast, her third home run of the season and second of the series. Megan Litumbe then brought home Kensey Caldwell with a sac fly after Caldwell hit a double and advanced on a passed ball. Troy, however, would match the two runs in the bottom of the third to go in front 7-4.
The Panthers kept chipping away at the Trojan lead as Drake earned another RBI in the fourth and Arden Jobe brought a run in with a sac fly in the fifth. Reagan Morgan completed the comeback with an RBI single down the right field line that tied the game at 7-7.
The score would remain tied until the Trojans hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. Entering the game, Georgia State had been impressive in extra inning games with a 3-1 record.
Georgia State hosts Kennesaw State Wednesday to kick off a four-game home stand.
